Dr Katie Xu is a specialist orthodontist dedicated to transforming smiles with expertise, precision, and genuine care. She began her journey at the University of Melbourne, where she completed her dentistry degree with first-class Honours. During her studies, she was recognised with multiple prestigious awards and scholarships, including the Cato Graduate Scholarship and the Des Crack Memorial Prize for achieving the highest marks in Paediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics.
Following several years of practicing as a general dentist and serving the wider Melbourne community, Dr Katie pursued advanced specialist training in orthodontics. She completed the highly regarded Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) at the University of Melbourne, equipping her with the skills to manage both simple and complex orthodontic cases.
Her expertise extends beyond the clinic — Dr Katie has presented at national orthodontic conferences and published her research in leading international journals, including the Australian Orthodontic Journal and the International Journal of Oral Science. She is an active member of the Australian Dental Association and the Australian Orthodontic Society, and she also contributes to the profession as an examiner for the Australian Dental Council.
What patients value most about Dr Katie is her thoughtful, patient-centred approach. She takes the time to understand each individual’s goals, concerns, and lifestyle so that treatment is as comfortable and effective as possible. Skilled in all types of orthodontic care — from traditional braces to discreet options like Invisalign® clear aligners and ceramic braces — Dr Katie is committed to designing tailored, comprehensive treatment plans that create confident smiles that last a lifetime.
Katie is a local Glen Waverley resident. She is often at the Glen stocking up on groceries or trying the newest restaurant to come to Kingsway. When the weather is nice, she’s often at Jells park with her family accompanied by her white, fluffy dog, Kumo.
