The Orthodontic Centre
Temporary Anchorage Devices Glen Waverley (TADs)
Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs), also known as mini-implants are small, biocompatible devices that orthodontists use as anchor points as part of your orthodontic treatment. They are placed by your orthodontist under local anaesthesia.
TADs allow your orthodontist to predictably achieve more complex tooth movements and treatment goals that might have been challenging or impossible with traditional methods alone.
These might include:
- Closing of large spaces left by missing teeth instead of placing dental implants
- Correcting gummy smiles
- Allowing for alternative orthodontic plans to avoid dental extractions or jaw surgery
- Jaw expansion in older patients
The TADs are painlessly removed once your orthodontic treatment is done.
